Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) February 15, 2012

Dr. Mahmood Kara has noticed that a significant number of his patients prefer silicone implants for their breast augmentation in Toronto. Dr. Kara offers his patients both silicone and saline implants as part of the range of options he provides to help create individualized, natural-looking results.

“Silicone is the more popular choice among my breast augmentation patients,” Dr. Kara says. “Many women feel that silicone has a much more natural feel and appearance.”

Dr. Saed Al-Habib is a staff surgeon in Dr. Kara’s practice who specializes in breast reconstruction, body contouring and liposuction in Toronto. He says the preference for silicone implants among their patients aligns with statistics from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which show that 62 percent of American women who had the procedure in 2010 chose silicone.

“It appears that women everywhere prefer the natural feel of silicone implants,” Dr. Al-Habib says. “There are a number of benefits to both silicone and saline implants, but choosing the best option comes down to personal preferences.”

Dr. Kara says many women are combining their breast augmentation surgery with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck in Toronto. This can help patients cut down on the recovery time and cost that would be involved with having separate procedures.

Combining procedures is also popular with patients who want to address multiple areas of the body at once for more comprehensive results.

“Recent mothers often come to us with questions about how they can restore their bodies following pregnancy and breastfeeding,” Dr. Kara says. “Depending on a person’s cosmetic goals, I usually recommend combining breast augmentation with a tummy tuck and liposuction. These procedures contour the body to help women look and feel their best.”

Dr. Kara and his team are dedicated to helping patients find the most effective solutions to their cosmetic needs.

“Choosing the perfect implants or which procedure will create the best results is different for every patient,” Dr. Kara says. “I strongly believe in educating patients on all available options, and then offering my opinion about the best choice.”

Dr. Mahmood Kara (http://www.drkara.com) is an experienced cosmetic surgeon in Toronto. He specializes in The 24 Hour Recovery Breast Augmentation Technique. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons. He offers a range of surgical and nonsurgical procedures and has offices in Whitby, Toronto, Vaughan and Yorkville. Dr. Saed Al-Habib works with Dr. Kara and specializes in breast reconstruction, body contouring after weight loss and microsurgery. Dr. Kara and his entire staff are dedicated to providing patients with advanced solutions that meet – and exceed – their cosmetic goals.

London, UK and Toronto, Canada (PRWEB UK) 13 February 2012

YESpay International Limited has launched StoreManager, a Mobile Payments App, supporting Magnetic Swipe and Near Field Communication (NFC) Contactless card payments. Mobile smartphones based secure innovative payments solutions are now proliferating and the main driving forces are because more smartphones now have high-speed Internet connectivity, easy-to-use User Interfaces and NFC contactless reader capability as standard.

StoreManager App is available for Android, BlackBerry and iPhone smartphones and is in effect a mobile version of a point-of-sale card payments device for mobile merchants. Merchants can now apply for a payment account for just £9.99 per month with YESpay to process smartphone based card present or not present payments. They can also make recurring payments using pre-stored card tokens for regular customers. Online web registration process is available at http://www.yes-pay.com with KYC (know-your-customer) checks via external credit checking companies such as Creditsafe and CallCredit.

“Small, big, home-based or on-the-road businesses can use Mobile StoreManager from YESpay to process mobile payments whenever and wherever via smartphones. Merchants can now access detailed transaction reports, monitor fraud, control set-up and distribution of e-coupons, promotions and location-based-services and perform sale or refund card transactions, anywhere, anytime!” said Supriya Rocha, SVP of Global Marketing at YESpay.

StoreManager App has the following simple user functions:

Manager: Merchant and store details and alerts and inbox messages

POS: Keyed, tokenised, mag-swipe and NFC contactless card payments

Reports: Merchant transactions reports with daily, weekly and monthly summaries

My Best: Top 10 stores and point of sale devices

Promotions: Discount coupons and promotions management

YESpay EMBOSS Payment Service host disseminates alert messages to the StoreManager App when potential fraud events are detected, e.g. high-level of refunds over a period or if a card is used repeatedly for multiple refunds in a day, week and month period.

StoreManager Mobile App is compliant with the following industry standards: Contactless PayPass and PayWave card schemes, PA-DSS and PCI-DSS security standards.

Mobile Internet (3G/4G) optimised payment protocols are used to communicate payment authorisation and capture messages with the YESpay EMBOSS payment service. EMBOSS in turn connects to major European, UK, Irish, US and Canadian Acquirers to authorise and clear payments. The complete authorisation process generally takes 2 to 4 seconds.

MasterCard PayPass – Magstripe and Visa PayWave-MSD contactless chip payments use chip authentication process performed between the chip embedded in the card and the Card Issuer. The security is built around a dynamic Card Validation Code (CVC3) generated by the PayPass/PayWave card using its diversified secret key and Application Transaction Counter (ATC). The Smartphone requires a standard NFC reader.

Magnetic swipe card transactions are performed via a secure swipe reader connected to the smartphone jack. The swipe reader encrypts the swipe card track data securely using its diversified secret key and this card data is decrypted at the EMBOSS data centre. Hence card data is protected via point-to-point encryption. This type of transaction is performed when payment card does not have a contactless chip.

Keyed entry is used as a fall-back position if NFC contactless and magnetic swipe reader payment is not possible and the merchant captures the cardholder, CVV2 security code, Postcode number and signature and verifies the signature against that at the back of the card.

Mobile App Integration

StoreManager Web Services assist merchants in building four cornerstones of their multi-channel payment strategy: customer affinity, card payment risk mitigation, enhancing business performance and building customer trust.

In addition to web services, there is also a ‘Merchant Integration API’ which provides a local device level way for merchant mobile commerce applications to integrate with the Mobile StoreManager card payment functions. This API is used to process card-present (keyed, mag-swipe and NFC contactless) and card-not-present payments locally within the smartphone.

Merchants and mobile app developers can contact YESpay International Limited via sales(at)yes-pay(dot)com or 0871 221 9510 to request integration guides and obtain more information about the YESpay mobile payments strategy.

Brimming with nostalgia for one of the few major music movements of the last 30 years, this visual journey through punk history lays witness to the high-water mark of a golden era in music. In 1977, before he entered on to the punk scene himself, Don Pyle bought a 35 mm camera and began photographing some of the earliest gigs of Toronto punk acts and other visiting punk artists. His trial-and-error education in photography resulted in this collection of images that document the early history of punk rock in Toronto and its influence on the local music scene, from the point of view of an awestruck fan. Influential punk musicians such as the Ramones, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, and The Clash, as well as Toronto bands such as The Viletones, Teenage Head, and The Curse, are captured at their creative prime, on the forefront of a musical revolution. The original scratched, water-marked negatives have been completely restored and together with authentic ephemera reveal a significant yet underrepresented period in Toronto’s musical cultural development.

Toronto (PRWEB) January 25, 2012

Herd.fm (https://www.herd.fm/) has launched an iPhone app that promises to be the new standard for music sharing and discovery on mobile devices. As phones have become the heart of a person’s music collection, the ability to share songs with others has remained difficult. The new Herd.fm is customized for mobile devices and provides a user-friendly, streamlined experience that makes connecting people through meaningful songs and playlists simple and fun.

Herd.fm reads a music fan’s iTunes listening history and Facebook sharing activity for a dual purpose: to display a snapshot of recent favorites and as a basis for intelligent music recommendations from Last.fm’s API and Herd.fm’s proprietary algorithm. This enables users to share the music that’s most popular with them at the moment or to manually select songs from their iTunes for customized “mini-mixes” that can be shared as easily as texting. Every time a user shares a song or mini-mix to a friend, Facebook or Twitter through Herd.fm, they’re rewarded with an instant and relevant music recommendation to their iPhone. Integration of the SoundCloud and YouTube APIs lets them stream these songs in full without leaving the app, making relevant music discovery hassle-free. Herd.fm also enhances music discovery by showing artist tour dates via Songkick’s concert API and enables song purchases through iTunes. Herd.fm has taken the best of many worlds to create a cohesive mobile music experience. Try it at http://itunes.apple.com/kz/app/herd.fm/id421452783?mt=8.

Herd.fm also uses the phone’s geo-location capability to visualize a user’s musical influence with its patent-pending feature called a “Trak Journey.” Share a song on the app and Herd.fm displays a map showing where the song travels and who is listening across the country, and the world.

The latest Herd.fm is an evolution from the music app’s earlier incarnation which launched at the SXSW Accelerator contest in March 2011, which used location as the basis for providing music recommendations.

“For our new direction we took a hard look at the big picture of sharing and discovering music on your mobile device and how we could solve this problem,” says David Nam, newly appointed Herd.fm executive team member, formerly of MXP4 and Last.fm. “Other sharing and discovery services were clearly invented for the web browser and not fundamentally designed for a mobile device. In the new app, we’ve taken this completely broken experience and created a legit mobile solution that makes it easy, fast, convenient and fun to discover new music by doing what you already do — share the music you love with the ones you love.”

Nam added: “Herd.fm lets you broadcast recommendations like any other service, but we focus on person-to-person because sharing music is a global behavior, but the music you share isn’t globally liked by everyone. So instead of posting to a feed, post to the friends you think will like the music.”

Download Herd.fm from the iTunes App Store at http://itunes.apple.com/kz/app/herd.fm/id421452783?mt=8

Belleair, Florida (PRWEB) February 02, 2012

On the register of historic buildings, the Victorian Belleview Biltmore Hotel is in immediate danger of being destroyed, and if demolished, over a century of national history will disappear forever. For over 115 years; celebrities, royalty and four US Presidents, including President Obama himself, number among the prominent guests of this treasured landmark.

In a recent Belleair town hall meeting, with the mayor absent, meeting minutes show that the presentation given by a hired consultant revealed in the second part of his recap that renovation of the hotel was completely overlooked. The majority of hundreds townspeople attending this meeting want the hotel preserved and were surprised at the major oversight, since this study was paid for with community taxes.

Brandvik’s novel not only attempts to save the Belleview Biltmore Hotel, but takes us from modern day turbulence into the looking glass – a century’s past of beauty and elegance and the strong women whose survival often depended upon their ability to band together with other women in a male dominated era. Blending the stream of time effortlessly, Brandvik gives the reader a chance to reconsider a world of possible futures, providing an enlightened learning experience derived from the heritage of our forebears.

It is now impossible to understand major North American cities without considering the seemingly never-ending and ever-growing sprawl of their surrounding suburbs. In The Shape of the Suburbs, activist, urban affairs columnist, and former Toronto mayor John Sewell examines the relationship between the development of suburbs, water and sewage systems, highways, and the decision-making of Toronto-area governments to show how the suburbs spread, and how they have in turn shaped the city.

Using his wealth of knowledge of the city of Toronto and new information gathered from municipal archives, Sewell describes the major movements and forces that allowed for rapid development of the suburbs, while considering the options that were available to planners at the time. Discussing proposals to curb suburban sprawl from the 1960s to the recently adopted plan for the Greater Toronto area, Sewell combines insightful and accessible commentary with rigorous research on the debate between urban and suburban. Concerned not only with sprawl, The Shape of the Suburbs also demonstrates the ways in which suburban political, economic, and cultural influences have impacted the older, central city, culminating in the forced Megacity amalgamation of 1998.

Rich in detail and full of useful visual illustrations, The Shape of the Suburbs is a lively look at the construction of the suburban era.

In the first half of the twentieth century, many of Toronto’s immigrant Jews eked out a living in the needle-trade sweatshops of Spadina Avenue. In response to their expliotation on the shop floor, immigrant Jewish garment workers built one of the most advanced sections of the Canadian and American labour movements. Much more than a collective bargaining agency, Toronto’s Jewish labour movement had a distinctly socialist orientation and grew out of a vibrant Jewish working-class culture.

Ruth Frager examines the development of this unique movement, its sources of strength, and its limitations, focusing particularly on the complex interplay of class, ethnic, and gender interests and identities in the history of the movement. She examines the relationships between Jewish workers and Jewish manufacturers as well as relations between Jewish and non-Jewish workers and male and female workers in the city’s clothing industry.

In its prime, Toronto’s Jewish labour movement struggled not only to improve hard sweatshop condistions but also to bring about a fundamental socialist transformation. It was an uphill battle. Drastic economic downturns, hard employer offensives, and state repressions all worked against unionists’ workplace demands. Ethnic, gender, and ideological divisions weakened the movement and were manipulated by employers and their allies.

Drawing on her knowledge of Yiddish, Frager has been able to gain access to original records that shed new light on an important chapter in Canadian ethnic, labour, and women’s history.
